“Star Wars: Episode 9” was supposed to about the final fight between the Resistance and the First Order. However, new leaks suggested that Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), although he has done many detestable things, is not the main villain in the film. There is an older and a much more powerful evil that the galaxy will have to face.
The following article contains spoilers from “Star Wars: Episode 9.”
When the first teaser trailer of the upcoming film was released during the Star Wars Celebration event, everyone was surprised by the possibility of the Emperor’s (Ian McDiarmid) return. However, in an interview right after the movie’s panel discussion, McDiarmid asked the fans not to take the tease too seriously, suggesting that he is not there in the film.
McDiarmid’s words seem to suggest that the Emperor’s voice will be featured in the upcoming film in just a cameo sequence, muck like the Force visions of Rey (Daisy Ridley) in the first film in the sequel trilogy. The fight, therefore, was expected to be between Rey and Kylo Ren, something that the trailer too teased.
A previous report by Making Star Wars shared some exciting details about the fight sequence between Rey and Kylo Ren in “Star Wars: Episode 9.” The two characters were previously connected through the Force, and that connection will have some interesting implications when they fight.
Kylo Ren and Rey will be so powerful in the Force while they fight that the backgrounds change while they do it. However, this is not the final duel in the film. The two characters will team up to fight another character who will be the main villain.
The upcoming movie will not only end the sequel trilogy about all the nine movies of the Skywalker saga. The Emperor will be the main villain in the film, Making Star Wars reported. Palpatine’s spirit will possess the body of a Dark Side acolyte, played by Matt Smith; and Kylo Ren has to team up with Rey to defeat him.
After the acolyte’s body is destroyed, Palpatine’s spirit will posses Kylo Ren’s body, since he has used Dark Side of the Force. It remains to be seen how Rey will defeat the Emperor because killing Ben Solo may make her body susceptible to be possessed.
“Star Wars: Episode 9” will be released on Dec. 20. Fans will have to watch the film to find out if the leaks are true.
