Hello guys!
I am new to this community and this should be the first proper topic that i have made so far, hurray! I hope im not being intrusive bringing up this kind of discussion but it is something i would really want to discuss and get some help with. It is something that relates to a project im working on. I would humbly like to ask for advice when it comes to creating fanfics, using and writing with pre-established characters and such.
To give a little bit of a background, i am an aspiring writer and artist who wants to write and draw a star wars spin off fan-comic taking place during the clone wars. Where its main focus is on the life inside the jedi temple and climbing through the ranks of the jedi order. Epic battles and such will be shown on other planets as well but its a story centered on the theme of self betterment, hope and achieving ones dreams so to speak. A story that follows multiple characters.
I come to this community because ive been following Star wars Theory for years now, it is a channel that i really love and admire. It keeps on bringing new content that makes me happy and inspires me to write and be creative. Watching these amazing theories and analyzing the great storytelling that goes into it motivates me to try and do the same for my project. I hope you guys are able to help me with this as i know there are great minds in this community with a lot of creativity who has helped star wars theory with his theories in te past. I hope i dont come off as selfish asking for help here but i figured the best way to ask for help would be in this place.
The main questions i have in mind are these, more can come in the future.
– How should i use, handle and write with pre-established characters? For example if i where to use yoda or any other jedi masters teaching some younglings or having a conversation with other characters for a couple of panels. How can i analyze and understand these characters to handle them well in the writting process? What are the things i should try to understand and explore about them?
– How is the life inside the jedi temple? To be a padawan living there? I somewhat have a good picture of it in my mind, i think, but i ask this question because at the same time, it does feel like it is something of a vauge area in star wars that hasnt been super well explored from the perspective of a padawan living there i think. What are the things that someone living there can expect?
– What are the things i should be weary of not doing with fan-created characters? I have made a few fan-characters for the story but i wouldnt want to accidently create mary sues or unlikable characters by accident.
– What makes characters likable?
– How can i make things believable?
I hope these questions are not too vauge, if there is anything you are wondering about and or if i have not been clear enough then dont be afraid to ask, i would more than gladly answer your questions.
Thank you for reading this and if you guys can help me, i would forever be grateful.

Read the novels and comics and see how other writers have handled them previously for references.
Regarding life in the temple, I am fairly certain it was a rigorous day to day ordeal, akin to prep school or college. Once you became a Padawan and gained a master that changed a bit, but gaining a master was not a certainty either.
regarding your own characters, the more they feel like real people, the more interesting they will be. avoid making them mary sues and you should be fine on them being likeable. likewise, avoid making them too underpowered. If you’re designing a weak character, remember to give them some redeemable traits, example, Obi Wan was garbage at the Force, but excelled at saber stuff. So he dedicated himself to strict meditation and focused on the Force until he overcame his shortcoming, eventually defeating both Greivous and Anakin.
Anakin on the other hand, was powerful and gifted and felt held back because his peers were far beneath him. so most stories about his time as a youngling focus on this.
I think i’ve addressed all your questions (not that Im an expert by any means.), apologies if I missed any, but hopefully this helps you out at least a little!
