Disney has released a new teaser for its Star Wars theme park, revealing that the immersive attraction is almost complete.
The video has confirmed that Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will open its gates at Disneyland Resort in the summer of 2019, while the Walt Disney World branch will launch in autumn, 2019.
The main attraction at the park will be the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run ride, which will put visitors in the pilot seat of the Han Solo’s iconic spacecraft as they battle it out with the First Order.
Up to six people can fit in the cockpit of the Falcon, which comes with fully immersive, hyper-realistic graphics and sounds.
Scott Trowbridge, creative executive at Walt Disney Imagineering, promises in the video that guests will be “right behind the cockpit”, adding that it’s an “intense, super fun experience on the fastest ship in the galaxy”.
The park will also feature a Rise of the Resistance ride, an eight-seater attraction where visitors will battle it out with Kylo Ren.
Carrie Beck, vice president at Lucasfilm Story Group, has suggested that more rides are already in the works, teasing: “This is only the beginning.”
She added that Galaxy’s Edge is “living, and breathing and evolving”.
The park is set over 14 acres in both Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Orlando, and at Disneyland in Anaheim, where the dusty streets and rocky terrain of the landscapes set the scene.
Naturally, there’ll also be places to eat and drink – so if you’re feeling parched, you’ll be able to drop by the Cantina for a drink with a droid or two.
