With the latest news that the Star Wars 9 teaser trailer has been delayed, it seems the title will arrive first. Many pundits are sure something will drop on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. A new leak claims to already know the title. And it is spine-chilling choice that can only point to Kylo Ren. It also warns fans that things are going to get even darker…
Redditor TheGarrettThomas (via CinemaBlend) posted: “Episode IX’s title was told to me today by a somewhat credible source. By that I mean he’s batting about .700.”
For UK readers this is a baseball term and a batting average anywhere abve .300 is excellent so 700 indicates very, very strong.
The leak continues: “He gives me good things mostly, and he gives me bad. But this time I trust him. I have no reason to lie, my real name and social media are attached to this, I know there’s lots of these posts. If he’s right, this should be public knowledge by Christmas. If he’s wrong, it’s another strike in his record.”
After all that build-up, the leak reveals the title as…
Well, it was worth a little drama. This is probably all the Star Wars excitement anyone may get this month.
The bold leak claims the title for Star Wars 9 will be “Son of Darkness.” It has a nice ring to it, although it is more specific than the usual The Force Awakens or A New Hope, although The Last Jedi already set the precedent.
And speaking of previous titles, this new one also neatly fits the fan desire to have the final three movie titles spell out a single sentence: “The Force Awakens The Last Jedi, Son of Darkness.”
Fans have been quick to embrace this potential title, as well as have a little fun with it.
The most popular response suggests it will be part of a new flashback scene: “Snoke: My worthy apprentice, SON OF DARKNESS, heir apparent to Lord Vader, where there was conflict I now sense resolved, where there was weakness, strength. Complete your training and fulfill your destiny.”
However, others perefer the idea of “Heir of Darkness,” since it leaves the possibility open to refer to Rey also.
The funniest response came back with: “I would like Hair of Darkness since Adam Driver has dark hair.”
At least it will keep fans amused while we all wait for any sign of the title or an actual trailer…
