My Pick of the Best Ralph McQuarrie Star Wars Concept art
Having sadly passed away almost seven years ago from Parkinson’s disease, Ralph McQuarrie’s vision of the Star Wars universe still lives on today. The whole look of the galaxy far, far away can be directly attributed to the artist’s skill. Indeed, some of his old unused designs have recently been recycled (Rebels springs to mind).
Having created concept art for many movies from Star Trek, to E.T. to Battlestar Galactica, his artwork was in great demand during the 70’s and 80’s, but in my mind, his best work was done for the Star Wars movies (I would say that wouldn’t I).
Today I’m featuring some of what I think is McQuarrie’s best work. These are of course my personal favourites and with hundreds of images to choose from, it was hard to filter down the list.
Do you have any personal favorites that I haven’t included in this post? If so, feel free to leave a comment below and I’ll be happy to add them to the gallery.
Thanks for dropping by my Jedi and Sith friends and as always, may the Force be with you!
